Understanding Our Go Live Implementation Plan

The best way to have a smooth, successful implementation is planning – we never leave anything to chance.

Implementations fail from lack of preparation and project management skills, lack of determination to carry out a project effectively, or lack of communication and setting realistic expectation levels.

Here's how we avoid failure with our go live implementation plan:

Step 1: The Internal Meeting

At Southeast Computer Solutions, we plan our implementation step by step, starting with an internal meeting. In this meeting, my colleagues and I discuss the information we started gathering from the minute we met the client. This includes everything we know about them as well as everything we know about their project. That is, what their requirements are, how many users they have, what we agreed to include in the project and what is excluded, and how we’re going to go about doing certain processes. Our goal is to get an understanding as to what the sales team has learned and why they chose Sage ERP Enterprise Management.

Step 2: The Kick-off Meeting

After this meeting, we schedule a kick-off meeting with the client to introduce our team. During the meeting, we introduce the person who will be responsible in setting and configuring Sage ERP Enterprise Management, the person who is going to deal with data migration, person who is going to be responsible in configuring the environment where the software will reside, etc.

Next we learn about their team – who’s going to be the project lead on their end, who will be responsible for discussing the accounting and operational processes? And who is their information technology (IT) contact?

Step 3: The Schedule

Then it’s time to schedule our workload. We find that scheduling is an extremely important part of this process – making a schedule and sticking to it keeps the project moving smoothly.  We also like to advise the client that if meetings get rescheduled or canceled, the implementation plan can be derailed.

Once we've introduced ourselves, met their team, and covered the “rules,” we offer a recap of what we discussed in regards to what they’re getting and then outline the next steps and action items.

Having a plan to follow will help streamline the implementation and avoid confusion in the future. Our goal is to ensure we are on time and on budget. The success of our client during their implementation is our success. Our methodology makes that happen! To learn more, contact us.
