Getting through those processes without significant disruption can be challenging, but the return on investment (ROI) will be considerable.   **To successfully find a business management system that manages your business best, you must do several things:** ## Define Requirements Physically write down your requirements and discuss them with stakeholders and software providers. Understanding and agreeing on requirements is critical to long-term success. ## Select a Software Vendor Choosing a software vendor that can meet all of your needs is challenging, and you shouldn't rush the process. Interview each software vendor as if they're going to be a new employee – because essentially, their software is going to be exactly that. [![Sage X3 Infographic](https://no-cache.hubspot.com/cta/default/418036/c0afd908-81a9-4099-80b1-9ec9d537aa77.png)](https://cta-redirect.hubspot.com/cta/redirect/418036/c0afd908-81a9-4099-80b1-9ec9d537aa77) ## Choose a Consultant Most businesses do not have employees with the specific technical expertise to lead an implementation. Outside consultants, therefore, are hired to guide a business through the implementation and, if desired, to "stick around" for continuing technical support.   A successful implementation, however, isn't the end of the process – there are several more elements to consider as you manage the system for the best ROI. ## Train You need to train everyone in your business to use the new system. Your information technology team needs to have adequate knowledge of the system's functionality for troubleshooting, and your other employees need to be comfortable in their new roles. ## Support Know where your tech support will come from. Will the software vendor be available or will the questions fall solely on your IT team? Stay up to date on these items to avoid unnecessary system issues. ## Measure What processes should the system have improved to be considered a success? Choose key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and review to ensure that you’re getting your desired results.
